Breakfast before L.L.Bean, pizza between stores, or a seafood dinner after the bags are packed: Freeport has restaurants for every part of a shopping day.
Several are right downtown, so you can stop for a meal without moving the car. Others take you along Route 1 or toward the harbor for a change of scenery.
Our Brickyard Hollow brewpub is at 20 Bow Street, close to the village shops. Here’s where to find us and a few other places to eat while you’re in town.
Choose a Restaurant Near Your Plans
If you want to stay downtown, choose breakfast at Isabella’s, pizza at Brickyard Hollow, seafood at Freeport Oyster Bar, or dinner at Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro. Freeport Café sits farther along Route 1, while Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster takes you to South Freeport’s harbor.
Check opening hours before building a day around a particular restaurant, especially for breakfast or seasonal seafood stops.
Breakfast Before the Shops
A Diner Breakfast at Freeport Café
Freeport Café on U.S. Route 1 serves home-style breakfast and lunch, including pancakes, corned beef hash, muffins, and biscuits.
It’s outside the central Main Street shopping blocks. Stop on your way into town for a full breakfast before heading to the stores.
Busy mornings can bring a wait. You’ll also find the café in Visit Freeport’s shopping-day recommendations.
Breakfast Downtown on School Street
Isabella’s Café & Bakery at 2 School Street serves breakfast and lunch close to L.L.Bean. The café emphasizes made-from-scratch food.
Have coffee and breakfast, then walk to the shops. Pick up a baked treat if you want something for later.
Pizza and Pints on Bow Street
Brickyard Hollow Freeport serves craft pizza, locally brewed beer, and a full brewpub menu at 20 Bow Street. Stop in for lunch between shops or dinner when you’re done browsing.
Put the bags down and order something for the table. Cup & Char Pepperoni covers the classic pizza craving; Maine Blueberry and Pesto Feta Veggie give you something different to try. Brickyard Pretzels with beer cheese make a good start while everyone decides. Browse the Freeport online menu for current selections.
The menu also includes salads and handhelds for anyone who wants something other than pizza. Nonalcoholic drinks are available, too.
Our Freeport lunch guide has more ideas for combining a meal with the shops.
Seafood Downtown and by the Harbor
Freeport offers two different seafood outings: oysters near the shops or a lobster-shack meal by the water.
Freeport Oyster Bar on Main Street
Freeport Oyster Bar at 43 Main Street serves oysters and other seafood downtown. The menu also includes soups, sandwiches, salads, and choices beyond seafood.
It’s a convenient lunch or dinner stop when you want to stay near the shopping district. Ask about outdoor seating if you’re visiting in warm weather.
Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster in South Freeport
Head to Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster for lobster rolls and seafood beside the harbor. Boats and waterfront views are part of the visit.
Plan this as a separate stop from the Main Street stores. Visit Freeport’s lobster guide has more details about the restaurant and other seafood stops.
Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster operates seasonally. Confirm opening dates and hours before making the trip.
Italian Dinner at Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro
Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro at 140 Main Street serves Italian food with a focus on local ingredients. Its menu includes pasta, brick-oven pizza, and other dishes for a longer meal after shopping.
The full bar and sit-down setting suit a date night or family dinner. Check reservation options if you have a particular time in mind.
More Freeport Breweries to Visit
Along with our downtown brewpub, Freeport has other stops for Maine beer and a meal.
Maine Beer Company has a tasting room on U.S. Route 1 serving IPAs, other releases, and wood-fired pizza. Allow time for a separate visit outside the central shopping blocks.
Mast Landing Brewing Company has a taproom and patio at 200 Lower Main Street. Food is available from neighboring Nighthawk’s Kitchen.
For a pint near the village shops, join us on Bow Street. Browse what we brew before you visit.
Coffee and Something Sweet
For a shorter break, stop for coffee, a pastry, or an ice cream cone.
Visit Freeport’s visitor guide includes The Bakeshop, The Met Coffee House, Wilbur’s Chocolate Factory, Wicked Whoopies, and Mainely Custard. Use it to find a treat along your route.
Plan Your Shopping Day and Parking
Start with breakfast at Freeport Café on the way into town or Isabella’s near the shops. Visit locally owned stores early if they’re on your list, since smaller shops may close before the larger retailers.
Break for pizza at Brickyard Hollow or seafood at Freeport Oyster Bar, then head back to the stores. If you’d rather spend the afternoon outside, leave time for a coastal park or a trip toward the harbor.
Save dinner for Tuscan Brick Oven Bistro, another brewery, or a return visit to a place you enjoyed at lunch.
Visit Freeport lists free public parking lots downtown, including the covered garage at Freeport Village Station. Street spaces can have time limits, so read the signs and choose parking that suits the length of your visit.
Where to Spend a Rainy Afternoon
If rain changes your plans for Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park or the harbor, spend the afternoon in town. Browse the shops, linger over lunch, or stop for coffee.
Wet weather can send more visitors indoors at once. Keep your dining time flexible, especially during busy summer days.
